Alice was a successful but stressed academic when she approached me for help finishing a book. Her publishers were getting impatient and she couldn’t move on with her career without it. She loved the subject, but felt overwhelmed. Something was holding her back.

After several sessions together Alice realised that she was writing the book for her parents, not for herself. It was making her miserable: maybe she didn’t want to move on with this career? She decided to explore retraining as a psychotherapist - something she had been curious about for a long time. After several more sessions together she took the plunge and signed up. It’s a long training, but she is sure she’s on the right path now. Instead of finishing the book, she’s actually looking forward to writing some articles for academic journals.

I started working with Victoria soon after she started a new job in marketing. She’d previously been very successful, but when she left her old job her boss was furious. She couldn’t forget some of the things he said.

We worked together to rebuild her confidence and to establish evidence of her skills and the added value she was bringing to her new employer. She realised she had received lots of recognition she’d never acknowledged. Her confidence rose and she decided to set a new goal for our work together - to prepare for her first leadership role.

Values first, she now has a clear vision of how she wants to lead and the culture she wants to create. The work goes on, with regular coaching sessions to support, challenge and extend her leadership goals.

Michael is a founder who has been internationally recognised for creating a successful non-profit. Despite numerous successes, he also faced increasing challenges: his work life balance had become unsustainable as he took on more and more of the work himself. He knew it was time for change, but he was worried about legacy, and how to prepare his team for his exit.

We worked together to identify his goals. This process helped him zero in on his own leadership style and identity, and to prioritise how he wanted to spend his time going forward. He wanted to keep learning and growing, to be with people who inspired and motivated him and be home at weekends with his growing family. During our sessions he was able to step back, shift perspective and map out a pathway through the next few years that was both ambitious and manageable.

Arjun approached me when he was at a low point. For the first time in his stellar career in the music industry he was failing and didn’t know what to do. His confidence collapsed.

By the end of our first session he was sitting up straighter and had a to-do list. As we worked together he reassured himself that he was in the right career, but needed a more creative role where he had more freedom. His current job description had been misleading and did not align with his skills. Although he acknowledged he had made mistakes, he could also see it was just a bad fit. He decided to approach his line manager and propose some changes, which they accepted. As his confidence returned he decided to set a new goal of finding a role which would let him love going to work again. Five months later he found it.
